Invisalign is a completely new approach to straightening teeth. This modern orthodontic treatment option does away with brackets and wires and instead uses a series of clear plastic aligners to gently shift your teeth into proper alignment. Invisalign offers more predictable results and patients love the fact that their aligners are discreet, comfortable, and convenient. No one will realize you’re undergoing orthodontic treatment and because you’ll be able to remove your aligners when needed, you can keep eating all of your favorite foods and brush and floss without any hassle.

The Invisalign Process

Your Invisalign treatment starts with a consultation. During this appointment, we’ll make sure you’re a candidate for Invisalign and take photographs and digital impressions that help us plan the movements of your teeth as you progress through your treatment. You can even see a preview of what your smile will look like once your treatment is complete!

We send your custom treatment plan to Invisalign, where your aligners are fabricated. You’ll switch to a new set of aligners about every two weeks, or as directed. Each set will bring you a little bit closer to your beautiful new smile. Once you’ve finished with your last set of aligners, we’ll provide you with retainers to help maintain your results.

Frequently Asked Questions About Invisalign

Is Invisalign cheaper than braces?

Invisalign is less expensive than ceramic braces and lingual braces. The price is comparable to traditional metal braces—sometimes Invisalign is slightly more and other times it is slightly less, depending on the amount of orthodontic correction you need.

Can your teeth move back after Invisalign?

Your teeth can move back after any orthodontic treatment, including Invisalign. To prevent this from occurring, Invisalign offers retainers that are worn at night and look and feel much like your aligners.

Can you eat with Invisalign in?

No, you shouldn’t eat with Invisalign in. One of the benefits of Invisalign is that you can take your aligners out in order to eat any foods you like!

Is Invisalign faster than braces?

Sometimes Invisalign is faster than braces, but not always. It depends on your unique needs and your compliance with the system. Invisalign aligners only work when you’re wearing them, so if you take them out often, it can prolong your treatment time.

Does insurance cover Invisalign treatment?

Dental insurance coverage varies from one plan to the next, so the best way to know if Invisalign is covered is to contact your insurance company directly. Our team is also happy to help you understand your benefits and out-of-pocket costs. Often if an insurance plan covers orthodontic treatment, they’ll also cover Invisalign up to the cost of traditional metal braces, but this isn’t always the case.

How painful is Invisalign?

Most patients wouldn’t describe Invisalign as painful, although it can be uncomfortable at times. You’ll experience the most discomfort in the days after you begin treatment, and then when you switch to a new set of aligners every two weeks, you’ll feel some tightness as your teeth adjust. This means your aligners are doing their job! If needed, you can take over-the-counter pain relievers for any soreness.
